Stenhousemuir Bowling Club licence changes – your views

Your Community Council is keen to hear your views on a recent application
to amend Stenhousemuir Bowling Club’s licence.

CURRENT LICENCE
The current licence allows the Club to open from 10am to midnight (MondayThursday
and Sunday) and 10am to 1am (Friday and Saturday). In addition it
has an off-sales licence Monday to Sunday 10am to 10pm. During its
opening hours the Club can sell alcohol, bar meals, run functions, hold club
meetings, provide facilities for dancing, organise indoor and outdoor sports
and show televised sports.

PROPOSED CHANGES
The Club has now asked for an alteration to this licence to hold additional
activities within the Club and in the area outside of the building. These
additional activities are:
• restaurant facilities,
• conference facilities,
• outdoor drinking in the seated areas to the north and south of the Bowling
Green,
• charity nights and children’s parties.
• recorded music, live performance and televised sport before opening
hours (no alcohol will be sold at these).
The Club also wants to increase access for children and young people until
1030pm or until the end of a function. They would have access to the Club
Room and outside drinking area. The current opening hours apply to these
additional activities as well. This would include Club members and people
attending functions.

YOUR COMMENTS
We are gathering views from people so we can advise the Licencing Board of
your views. We have to make comments by 15 May so time is short. If you

Electrification of the Line – Greenhill Junction, Polmont Junction and Grangemouth Junction up to Larbert Junction

As part of the Scottish Government’s on-going strategic transport investment, Network Rail is continuing to deliver work to electrify the railway across central Scotland.

Following the electrification of the main line between Edinburgh and Glasgow (via Falkirk High) in the autumn of 2017, the current phase of works extends from Grangemouth and Falkirk, through Stirling to Alloa and Dunblane under the SDA electrification programme.

The section of the route between Greenhill JunctionPolmont Junction and Grangemouth Junction up to Larbert Junction is the latest to be electrified. Network Rail is advising lineside communities that the overhead lines will be LIVE and DANGEROUS.

Electrification of the railway will means increased capacity on routes by improving the infrastructure to enable longer, faster and greener modern electric trains to run.

Wheely Wednesday

Wheely Wednesday at FVRH is back tomorrow – Wednesday 25th April!

Here is their flyer – Wheely Wed April Version

Wheely Wednesday is a great opportunity to talk to our friendly and knowledgeable colleagues from the Falkirk and Stirling Active Travel Hubs about walking opportunities, cycling opportunities and anything related to active travel.

  • If you’d like a safer cycling route then the staff will be happy to help you with this.
  • Want to know of local led rides you can join with?  Ask the team on Wednesday.
  • Why not try an e-bike?  People who have tried them LOVE them.
  • There will be 2 led cycle rides at 12pm and 1.00pm – each one will last 15 minutes and take you around the beautiful woods at FVRH.  What better way to start your afternoon back at work, having enjoyed this short cycle ride?

From 8am until 2pm Dr Bike will be there to carry out FREE basic cycle “MOTs” on your bike(s) – you’ll find them at the Staff Entrance to the rear of FVRH. Just leave your bike(s) with them and collect by 2pm at the latest.

For staff / members of the public who live in Larbert / Stenhousemuir – the Cycling Bus is back:

A very big thank you…

The current Community Council stands down after our 4-year term at midnight on 12th December 2017. We would like to thank all the local community for its support over the last 4-years. Your support and contributions have been very much appreciated by the Community Council and have helped us represent the views of the community on a wide range of matters.

As previously notified, we were disappointed that there were insufficient nominations received by Falkirk Council to form a new Community Council. The good news is that the deadline for nominations has been extended to 18th December. We would continue to encourage anyone interested in getting involved to download a nomination form and submit it to Falkirk Council in advance of the deadline. The forms can be downloaded at: http://www.falkirk.gov.uk/services/people-communities/community-councils/election/

We have achieved a lot over our 4-year term and we hope that a new Community Council will be formed over the coming months to continue to serve our local community and represent your views.

This website will remain open in the interim but there will be no responses or action taken until a new Community Council is formed. Should you have any matters which you would like to raise, please contact Falkirk Council in the first instance.

Many thanks once again and very best wishes for the festive season and 2018.

Kind regards
Larbert, Stenhousemuir and Torwood Community Council.

Community Council Election update – deadline for nominations extended

Following our previous post, Falkirk Council has now extended the date for nominations for the Community Council to 18th December 2017. The nomination forms and the instructions for completion and submission can be downloaded at: http://www.falkirk.gov.uk/services/people-communities/community-councils/election/

We have also pulled together an additional quick fact sheet on what is involved in the Community Council for anyone who may be interested in finding out more: http://lstcommunitycouncil.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/Addition-Information-on-the-Community-Council.pdf

We hope that there will be sufficient interest and nominations to ensure that there continues to be a Community Council to represent the views of local residents within the Larbert, Stenhousemuir & Torwood area.
