The Future of the Community Council…

Some very disappointing news…..

Falkirk Council only received 2 nominations for the 11 spaces available to form a new Community Council over the next 4 years within the Larbert, Stenhousemuir & Torwood area. This means that at this stage a new Community Council cannot be formed when the current one stands down in a few weeks time.

There is a meeting at Falkirk Council on Tuesday to agree next steps and it is likely if agreed that they will seek further nominations in the run up to Christmas. In advance of this, if you would like to find out more about what is involved, please get in touch by sending us an e-mail (lst-cc@virginmedia.com) or leave a comment on this post or come along to our last meeting on Monday 27th November at 715pm in the halls of Larbert Old Church.

We would urge anyone who may be interested in getting involved to put forward their nomination or express an interest as soon as possible. Without at least 2/3 of spaces being filled, there will not be a Community Council established for this area. This would be a great loss for the local area given the important role that the Community Council plays in representing the local community to Falkirk Council and other statutory bodies.

Proposed Residential Development – Stirling Road, Larbert – UPDATED PROPOSALS AND PUBLIC EXHIBITION

The Community Council has received a Proposal of Application from Gladman Scotland in relation to a forthcoming application for planning permission in principle for residential development, access, landscaping, open space and associated works, on land at Stirling Road, Larbert.

A Public Exhibition will be held by Gladman Scotland on Tuesday 13th June at Larbert Bowling Club, Pretoria Road, Larbert, FK5 4NB from 3.00pm until 7.00pm. A series of exhibition boards will be displayed providing the background to the proposals and identifying the factors which will influence the proposals.

Representatives from Gladman Scotland will attend to talk you through the updated proposals should you wish to attend.

Alternatively, Gladman Scotland has created a website which will be kept up to date as matters progress, see www.your-views.co.uk/larbert .

Comments can be submitted to Gladman Scotland up to 25th July 2017. Full details of how to comment are on the website.

Please note, any comments made at this stage do not replace the formal planning application consultation process, where representations should be made directly to Falkirk Council once a planning application has been submitted.

Talking Fracking Community Consultation Event – Draft Response

In order to inform a response to the Scottish Government consultation, the Community Council hosted an event for local residents on Monday 8th May to discuss the pros and cons of fracking, and related matters, and to evaluate the potential benefits and impacts on our local community. All views were listened to at this event which was impartially facilitated. Approximately 40 people attended the consultation event.

We have now drafted a response to this which will be discussed at our May meeting. The draft response can be viewed here: http://lstcommunitycouncil.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/UOG-draft-representation-May-2017.pdf

We have circulated the draft response to those who attended on the 8th May and have asked them to confirm if they have any objections to the content of the submission or if there are any omissions from the discussion that took place. Any comments received from those who attended will be considered in an open forum at our meeting on Monday 29th May.

If anyone who did not attend has any observations to make on the document, please let us know as soon as possible by e-mailing lst-cc@virginmedia.com. Any comments received will be considered at our meeting on Monday 29th May.

The draft submission will be discussed and finalised for submission at our meeting on Monday 29th May.

You are also able to submit your views direct to the Scottish Government. Please note that the consultation closes on 31st May and can be viewed at: http://www.talkingfracking.scot/
