The Community Council is doing a quick consultation to gather views on initial ideas to develop the playing fields at Stewartfield in Larbert. This is the area of ground behind the flats on Main Street and on Victoria Road.

When RSNH closed, the community lost the playing fields that were there. At the time, the NHS gave £100,000 to Falkirk Council to help develop alternative community playing fields in the local area. Approximately £25K of this has been spent making improvements to the playing fields opposite Falkirk Golf Club leaving £75K. As a result there is funding in place to carry out works to improve other local playing fields.

Falkirk Community Trust on behalf of Falkirk Council is now looking at options for the remaining £75K.

Stewartfield at present needs to be re-turfed and new goals supplied. It has been proposed that it could change from 11 a side pitch to two 7 a side pitches with the possible option of adding a 4 a side pitch at a later date for younger children. The pitches would not be bookable and would be available to the public.

Falkirk Community Trust wish to know what the community would like to see take place. We are aware that there is a lack of good quality, safe playing fields and open space in the area for young people and would like to hear your views on proposals for Stewartfield.
