Foundry Loan – Waiting Restrictions

Many thanks for all the comments we have received in relation to Falkirk Council’s proposals for double yellow lines on Foundry Loan.

We have submitted the following response to Falkirk Council:

“Dear Sirs

We write in relation to the above Order which seeks to address the parking and safety issues on Foundry Loan.

The Community Council has received a considerable volume of representation from local residents on this. The majority of residents who have contacted us are in favour of the double yellow lines and welcome them, as does the Community Council.

There are a few observations that have been made by residents to us in relation to the Order. One of the main observations made by some residents is that the double yellow lines may force parking into the surrounding side streets/estates with the potential result that similar inconsiderate parking occurs. We are also aware of proposals for parking charges at the station which if implemented may also exacerbate the on-street parking situation. We have received comments over the requirement to increase capacity at the main Foundry Loan car park. Some suggestions have been made to the Community Council that a second floor of parking could be considered as a solution or that the under-utilised bus turning circle could be turned into additional parking.

In conclusion, however, we are in favour of the proposed waiting restrictions being put in place in the interests of road safety.

Should you have any queries in relation to this response, please let us know.

Yours faithfully Etc.”

Foundry Loan – Speed Cushions & Parking

For some time, we have been seeking a long-term solution with Falkirk Council to the concerns that have been raised by local residents in relation to the speed cushions and parking on Foundry Loan.

Falkirk Council has advised us that it is now their intention to retain the existing speed cushions. They also intend to pursue a traffic regulation order which will seek to put in place extensive double yellow line waiting restrictions to ensure large vehicles can straddle the cushions which they advise should minimise the disruption experienced in neighbouring residential properties.

The process of initiating the double yellow lines will be subject to a statutory legal consultation process with the local community. We will post more detailed information when this process commences.

If you have any comments on this in advance of the formal consultation period that you would like the Community Council to consider, please let us know by posting a comment here or e-mailing us at lst-cc@virginmedia.com

Foundry Loan Speed Cushions – Works commencing Monday 26th May 2014

The Community Council has been in correspondence for some time with Falkirk Council over the Foundry Loan speed cushions. One of the concerns raised has been the poor state of repair of the speed cushions with bolts protruding in many places.

Falkirk Council has advised that they are going to replace the rubber speed cushions with asphalt. The works are scheduled to commence on Monday 26th May 2014 and are expected to last 3 working days.

The works will be carried out under manually controlled temporary 2 way traffic signals and will be undertaken in off peak hours, commencing after 9:00am and finishing at 3:30pm.

We are still continuing discussions with Falkirk Council with a view to undertaking a consultation on alternative options for traffic calming on Foundry Loan.
